Treanna's Love For Flowers

Azaleas&Abutilon.jpg - 85570 Bytes From the very beginning of Treanna’s marriage she was the gardener and took care of all the chores including mowing the lawns as DH had a very heavy schedule but didn’t much like gardening anyway. However once he retired 11 years ago he took up interests more related to the hobby side of gardening, building bird houses, wishing wells and constructing walk ways. ButterflyIris.jpg - 50649 Bytes

Then Treanna’s sheer enthusiasm won him over and he became interested and joined her in her love of plants. Treanna loves anything that produces a flower, whereas DH favours daylilies, flowering trees and maples. Various shades of blue with white and yellow and also pinks and bright reds are Treanna’s favourite colours in the garden. Flowerbed&walway.jpg - 66207 Bytes

They have 6 flower gardens made up of perennial plants and 2 rose gardens with approximately 70 roses. During the summer time they both work 7-8 hours per day maintaining their garden and on occasions it begins at sunrise 6.30a.m. and continues until 5 p.m. They don’t employ a gardener so the results are entirely by their hard work. Winter brings with it a shorter day where they spend about 4 hours or so depending on what needs doing. Frontgarden.jpg - 73204 Bytes

They used to have a vegetable garden up until a couple of years ago but found it wasn’t worth all the effort as most of their produce was eaten by the rabbits and squirrels.

I asked Treanna her favourite tree? What a question. I will quote Treanna here “Gosh, I have many favourite trees, especially the flowering ones. Hong Kong Orchid, Gold Medallion, Daisy and Dombeya and of course a big favourite with us both is the Japanese Red Maple.” Largepergola.jpg - 74584 Bytes

Her favourite season is Spring when she and DH can sit under the large pagola, sipping coffee and looking out into their garden watching all the new buds awaken and come to life. Another favourite spot is the front porch where they can gaze out and beyond the lawns and into the colourful garden and tall trees and watch with amazement while the rabbits “play”. It is obvious that Treanna and DH have the same wonderful sense of humour as Treanna explains and I quote “DH doesn’t believe that DH stands for Darling Husband but for Digging Holes.”
