"Blessings" a California Hillside Garden part 3

Because the property is large and steep, I do gardens in small sections, usually 50-100 feet in size and try to make each area different. I do love almost all plants, but I think I adore the design element even more. With the breathtaking view as my backdrop, I am always creating little venues to sit and admire, rest or relax about every 50' or so. Our summers get intensely hot, 117 degrees, you need the shade and place to sit if you ever expect to walk the garden and survive! Some of my favorite sitting areas are in the "Cutting Garden" where I snip fresh flowers for the house, or manage to sneak in a break to eat ripened Grapefruits and Oranges warm off the trees. In spring the quiet garden welcomes bulbs for my numerous bouquets.

As the seasons warm, the cutting garden is choked with Roses, Climbing Vines, Annuals and Dahlias until the cold wet winter puts the garden to rest......
