This is a new hybrid I've produced. I love the black and white striped bees. I haven't thought of a name for it yet - any suggestions?

Very nice one! As for names, I have a terrible time naming anything--kids, pets, etc!

Can't suggest a name either, but the two-tone bees are very attractive. I love white delphiniums and this one is special.

Just beautiful. How about Black Tie or Elegance? It gives a very formal look to me-like a black tie affair or Prom night.

Wow, that is very pretty, Mike! I like the hint of green too. I like Terry's names - in the same vein it could be 'Formal Affair'.

Hi Kaguyahime, The plant is in its first year of flowering and is 1.6m tall and the flowers are 35-40mm diameter. I have several very similar from this cross but this has the most dramatic striping in the bees so far but there are still some to flower. Thanks to all for the names - I wondered about "Domino" - What do you think?

Probably it wil grow 20 cm taller next year then ,i know of treatments where there is given a liquid N-fertilizer (in the active growing period) to the roots AND foliage every two weeks with the result/reaction of becoming 40-60 cm taller then the average hight!if yd ask me, I find "Domino" a very suitable name for this wonderful Delph.

It is lovely. I can't stop looking at it. I like Formal Affair, but my name pick would be Formal Attire. Just how does a person propogate a delphinium? I assume that the seeds would not be an exact copy of the parent. Do you have to take cuttings ? Put my name on your list if you market them.

I'm going to propagate by basal stem cuttings as you say seed of delphinium does not come true. It will take a year or so to bulk up the plant to take enough cuttings but I definitely intend to market it provided I can keep it going through its first winter!

That quite a unique hydrid you have produced Mike...the name that sprung to mind for me immediately was Dalmatian Delphinium

Terry, unfortunately this one appears to be really rather sterile. I'll soon cut the dried spikes off and shake them out and indeed hope for a few good seeds! I'll let you know what comes of it. The plant itself is stocky and strong and puts on a beautiful show! Terry
