This lovely bi-annual delphinium is little known, I think, though its soft bluish-pinkish-greyish colour is a perfect companion for many roses and other perennials. It doesn't seem to need staking (I only grow it since 2005), and self seeds freely, but is very easy to control.
In cold areas, as the seedlings around the mother plant sprout early in autumn, you can spare a number of them and overwinter them in a cold place, to plant them back the following spring. I have way too many seeds left, and I can tell you they are very easy to germinate (in the dark, cool temps). My latest series did germinate in less than a week! Would some of you like to give it a try? http://www.lejardindesophie.net/jardinautes/sophie/paplantes/d/delphreq.htm

Hello Zephirine, These are very beautiful flowers. I am going to try to get some seeds started this spring. They are the "Summer Blues" variety of delphiniums. I have never grown these before; so I am wishing for good luck with them. Do you have any more extra seeds from yours? I would like to try to get more than one variety started.
