18 June 2006. http://xrl.us/nfdt

Delphinium
This plant is three years old. The first year it had one spike. Not full bloom yet, but will be in about three days. One of my favourites. The plant starts growing as soon as the snow comes off the top of the plant about March 15 in Zone 5.

24 June 2006. http://xrl.us/nip9

This Delphinium sheds flower parts at the lower end of the spikes, before all the flowering spikes mature, so this is probably the best photo that can be taken of this cultivar. Shortly after this photo was taken, the wind came up and broke four of the largest flowering stems; however, it is still pretty on 24 June 2006.
The plant is growing well 7 April 2007.

I didn't expect the plant to get so large, or I would have put it in another location. My limited previous experience was having only one spike. It will stay in location now, since I will not take a chance on moving it. It has started to grow in spite of our cool weather 15 April 2007.
