Questions 4 my delphiniums

Author Message   Shmilygal  Posted on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 - 02:41 pm EST :    I am very new at gardening and I bought 5 'Magic Fountains Mix' delph plants (2 had 2 different colors in them). I dug 7 holes but my husband told me that someone told him that I should not split the plants. Is that true, is it all one plant? If so I am going to have to get a couple more plants (as if that hurts my feelings :)! Oh, as far as trimming them back when the flowers are done. How do I go about doing that. I love these flowers and am trying to get this figured out?! Sorry about all the ?s. I have been finding this site very helpful!!!!! I cut mine back to just above the main group of leaves near the ground. That's quite a bit but I always get re-blooming in early fall when temperatures cool down again. The second blooming is not as spectacular as the first flush, but it is still attractive.
