I am very new at gardening and I bought 5 'Magic Fountains Mix' delph plants (2 had 2 different colors in them). I dug 7 holes but my husband told me that someone told him that I should not split the plants. Is that true, is it all one plant? If so I am going to have to get a couple more plants (as if that hurts my feelings :)!

Oh, as far as trimming them back when the flowers are done. How do I go about doing that. I love these flowers and am trying to get this figured out?!

Sorry about all the ?s. I have been finding this site very helpful!!!!!

Cut the whole flowering stalk. I cut mine back to just above the main group of leaves near the ground. That's quite a bit but I always get re-blooming in early fall when temperatures cool down again. The second blooming is not as spectacular as the first flush, but it is still attractive.

If you want to collect seeds don't cut them them back until after the seeds mature.
