My High Noon is blooming for the first time since I planted it two years ago. The flower is quite small (11cm), perhaps it's still a young plant. According to books and experts it has scent of lemon. I've been trying few days to detect it. My honest conclusion is it smells more like beetle than lemon. If somebody is wondering how beetle smells like, you can experience it by eating fresh coriander leaves.

What a beautiful colour Hankeat....and more blooms to come by the look of it. Yellow is my favourite colour in the garden, and I would love this plant in my garden. Maybe the flowers are smaller because it is in a container. I quite like the smell/taste of corriander...I had no idea it smells like beetles though!

Denise, I found something about coriander in Wikipedia. 'The leaves, and especially the stems, have a very different taste from the seeds, similar to parsley but "juicier" and with citrus-like overtones. Some people instead perceive an unpleasant "soapy" taste and/or a rank smell. This is believed to be a result of an enzyme that changes the way they taste coriander leaves, a genetic trait, but has yet to be fully researched.' Probably I'm one of them.

I love this, too! It's a gorgeous bloom, and quite intriguing. While a lemon scent would be a bonus, the bloom itself is a delight! Of course I'm thinking of just the right spot in my garden for this beauty! There I go again, coveting!
