Suffruticosa Kamata-Nishiki according to her label is starting to show some color!! This is the one the tree fell on a year ago that was our baby tree peoney that we thought was lost. A friend worked at a local nursery and highly recommended this one for our first! So far so good and hope to see her reach the full purple color if Mother Nature allows her to.

She is wide open now, WoW!! I'm ready to give up the Brugs for a garden of these.
This is what gardening is all about, breath taking and the smell!!

This is helping me get into the spring mode. Karma, they are beautiful and wow! what a wonderful addition to your garden--with your brugs!

http://www.gardenbuddies.com/forum/messages/4367/1246521.html Denise we have a long way to go on the brugs but these are out. They take up 1/3rd of the back yard so we have the peonies in the front and with the missing tree they are really getting the sun now. This one was a lucky find as they don't last once they are spotted in a nursery and $60 was cheap. Between these and a move toward hybridizing hostas the Brugs are starting to loose their gardens.

It looks like what I'm expecting of my new tree peony, which should open its first bud pretty soon. I'll take photos and if they are identical I can provide a name for yours :-)

Thanks Gardenfiend. This one is just breath taking and is still wide open. The last shot is a new bloom. I was told I need more of these down the front walkway!

We had frost on the roof tops this am so I'm afraid to go out to look at them. They have been a show stopper these past few days. The oldest bloom is starting to show signs of fading. Enjoy.
This last photo, I'll be entering in the county fair later this year.

I don't think we could stand it if tree peonies flowered any longer than they do. This is so gorgeous, and the colour changes just add to its beauty.

More than just aging gracefully! Isn't it great when the weather is right and such friends extend their visit for a few extra days?

Karma - My tree peony just bloomed & it looks like yours & also was marked Kamata Nishiki. But I've never seen a photo of it with flares b4 & I've never read a description of it with flares. I'd love to know if this truly is Kamata Nishiki or something else.
