I'm using a low quality camera so please excuse the picture quality. I bought these last year at Costco, but they don't look like the Bowl of Beauty I expected to see. Do you see me complaining? These are just magnificent. They are bigger then the palm of my hand and the pink color is unreal. I must have gone out to see them a 100 times today. I’ve used my son to better display their size.

No that definitely isn't 'Bowl of Beauty', but it looks like you got a different beauty all the same! It's a really lovely peony, I'd be happy to have that one. Your photos are delightful :)

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. Terry, I promised my DH to leave Mark's hair alone after I chopped of our older son's curls when he was 16 mths. I think that he never forgave me for doing that so I'm trying to make amends . Here's another shot of the peonies as more of them are open now.

Luiza, your son is absolutely precious! I love the peony too, but your little one is such a little angel. And look at those golden locks!

Somewhat off topic, as it is not about the peony. Keep his curls as long as possible. Somehow they do not seem to have all those curls as they grow up. If you could only sculpture that little guy as he is posed with your peony, now that would be a wonderful addition in the garden!

Monique, I planted them last year and this is their first year blooming. Just foliage last year and much smaller as well. This year they really took off. Terry, Mark would be the perfect model. He could be one of those little cherub angels. His just missing the wings right now

Missgarden, your beautiful peony looks like "Doreen", which Costco sold this spring under its correct name! It is quite gorgeous. I can't wait to see mine in bloom!

On second thought... The petaloids of "Doreen" are much larger. (I had one single small bloom in the greenhouse before the plant leafed out fully, and it did look more like yours than the ones on the packet picture... Although I suspect the blooms might look different when in full bloom outdoors.) I would be very interested to know which one you've got there -- it is fantastic.

I was just looking around online to see if I could figure it out and I found one that looks like it called "Sparkling Star". What do you think?

Hi Jennifer, thanks for taking the time to try and help out. During winter I too spent a good few hours scouring the internet for pictures to try to ID my plant. The edges of the petals are a bit uneven with an indentation in the middle. I strongly believe my plant to be Dancing Butterflies, more recently known as Little Medicine Man. Here’s a link with a description and some pictures. http://www.paeo.de/name/index_d.html
