This is a quirky fern that appeals to me. I see it at many nurseries, so if you like it I think you will find it. Athyrium felix-femina Frizelliae
This fern is a mystery to me. I am bad about keeping tags and remembering fern names. But it is a lovely delicate plant and it has returned after a miserable winter with a lovely form too.

Lovely gardenbug Here is a photo of a fern growing behind the greenhouse took this photo tonight.
Must have been seeded by a bird or wind as I never planted it. But I rather like it and have used it in my flower arrangements .

Gorgeous - I have a fern that is the same as the first one you pictured Marie. I want a new arrangement of ferns so I will be shopping for those as soon as I can. The second picture is beautiful.

Marie, I think your one fern might be called the Christmas Fern. I'll have to check mine and see if they are the same.

I have also planted A. F. F. Frizelliae this year, Marie ! Could your second fern possibly be Dryopteris filix mas linearis polydactyla?

Zéph, it could be...but no way of verifying, especially now that my ferns have turned to mush. Thank you for trying!

Ferns, they make me think of a time before people were around, and strange creatues roamed the earth, giant dragonflies buzzed through the foliage, and there wer no flowers yet.

My Athyrium felix-femina Frizelliae is just starting new fronds after a winter in a pot. Glad it came back, hope the rest of mine do too, especially ghost. Marie

Don't worry if you don't see signs of Ghost yet, it is very late to start into growth. Mine just began about a week ago, long after all the other ferns.

I have 6 Japanese Holly Ferns in my shade garden that I have had real good luck with. They just keep coming back year after year.
