I bought this fern at Chelsea Flower Show about 6 years ago. it was about 5 feet or more tall, and cost £100 on offer at the show. It was delivered free of charge, as the company were exhibiting at Belfast show a couple of weeks later
I planted it about a foot or so into the ground, and it has done very well for me. For a few winters, I wrapped it in various layers of foam etc as a protection, but it hasn't been so cold this past two years, so it has been able to fend for itself quite well. We would probably be a zone 6 or 7 over here, with the benefit of warmth from the Warm Gulf Stream up the west coast of Ireland
It is very slow growing

It looks fantastic! Are there other tree ferns there too? What did you think of the Chelsea Flower Show? I wish it would get better coverage on TV - I'd like to see more of the plants and less of so called celebrities!

There is a small one to the right at the back of this picture Ann. I had another (just about where the pic is taken from) that died in its first year. £30 too (ouch)
Chelsea was terrific, but once you have been there, there has been no urge to go back until about now LOL
