Found some bargain ferns in the market while having a quick look for shrubs(as usual I find something i wasn't looking for!) and I picked one that would be likely to survive our winter yet be a bit special. The one I picked is called Japanese Tassel Fern,or Polystichum polyblepharum. It is fully hardy and evergreen, with very dark shiny leaves. It is unusual in that when the croziers open they go in the opposite direction before changing their mind and going the right way, creating a tassel shape. I don't have a pic yet, haven't had chance to plant it out yet,but will get pics soon. Anyone else grow this fern?

I confess to loving ferns, and having none, Larry. LOL. I don't think our dry climate here is good for them. But I looked up this one on the 'net, and it's really beautiful. Do show us some photos of it when you get it into the ground.

Just read the label again,it says it can also be grown as an indoor plant on a cool windowsill. Also it was awarded an RHS award of merit!

It would survive inside but would be much happier outside if you have room for it Larry.
