I hope you'll forgive this additional evidence of my obsession with bird feet.
I couldn't figure out what those funny, curly marks on the fence rail were at first.

lol Anne, I have a good friend that is obsessed with bird feet too! There's a really good article in the most recent issue of Birder's World about bird feet. They are quite remarkable and quite worthy of obsession! Cute pic; Looks like he's doing that hokey-pokey dance!

Cute shot! I always like photos of hummers when you can see their little feet curled up under them when they are flying!

So cute, Anne. I like little birdie feet too. They are pretty remarkable too. I always marvel at how birds can hang upside down and get at the suet cakes. They must have really strong toes.

Too cute, Valia...I love it!! The framing is gorgeous...great job:) As Carol mentioned, bird feet are remarkable. I heard a bird expert on a talk radio show explain how they have two veins to their feet...one runs up and one runs down...cold goes up one vein and is warmed by the blood going down the other...thus keeping their feet from freezing. If I'm re-telling the story correctly:)

Thanks, Carol, Cal, Jackie, DW, Deanne, Sharon, Tanya and BlueSage. It's good to know there are other bird-foot-fetishists out there. Tanya, you remind me of the joke about the funeral of the composer of the hokey pokey song. Everything went fine until they played the song, and then ... he put his left foot out ...
