The garden is alive with the sound of bird song! I tried to see how many I could photograph... Northern Cardinal "cheer-cheer-cheer...purty-purty-purty!"
House Finch ..various three-note phrases
American Goldfinch...trills and twitters
Black-capped Chickadee...we all know his dee-dee song, but here he is singing his "fee-beee" two note song.
Eastern Bluebird..."chur chur-lee chur-lee?" as if he's asking a question...
And the songster that is out singing all the birds right now, the master himself; Brown Thrasher. He sings an endless variation of double phrase songs...loudly! (tough shot through the branches; hopefully he'll come out into the open one time!)
Oh...one more "songster" down in the pond, but sort of a loud croaking sound-lol

A great big thank you Carol, for outstanding camera work. The pictures are priceless. And as a bonus you captured all birds in "singing mode". How wonderful. And,,,,, the brown thrasher ! Personally I am waiting,,,,,,,, I miss his most melodic song. The Mr. Cardinal comes to the ground in our back yard after we raked it, he and many others still find seeds. He does not like to come to the feeder. I think it is the type of feeder we have. Will get one like you have next coming winter.

Oh what wonderful shots! The air here is filled with birdsong at the moment and I just love it. Someone in my office was complaining the other day that the birds wake him up - I would much rather that than an alarm clock!

Great shooting as always! I tell you the Toads at night are almost defening! Soon we will be seeing baby toads (little dime sized guys) hopping around. I cannot wait!

Thanks everyone! Hopefully I can add some more singers that I missed! Cal, I find the cardinals prefer the kind of feeders with a bit of a ledge to perch on such as the hopper style feeder, or the type with the open tray area. DW, the toads haven't started up here as yet, but by mid summer..wow are they loud! But having lived long ago in the big city I'll listen to that over traffic noises anyday!

I agree with everyone, Carol! Wonderful photos! I enjoy hearing the birds too. Now and then we have a frog under the house (we live in a rancher with a crawl space) and he/she can be loud. But it's all nature and we love it. Cheerful posting. Thanks, Carol!
