They've been here all winter, but won't be around much longer. I miss them already!
And I'll just sneak in some forsythia in bloom if that's okay! It's bird "environment"...

Handsome fellow is the WCS. I've had them here for a couple of weeks now but know they are just passing through to their northern digs. Love the forsythia too, Carol.

Boo hoo. Beautiful photo, but bad news to me. I just checked the bird book, and, yes, I guess they are gone and we won't be seeing them again for a while. I didn't know. They were our most numerous sparrow.

Wonderful pics, Carol. I love his little striped cap. The forsythia is lovely too. Mine didn't bloom very well this year so I'll enjoy yours instead.

Adorable picture, such a nice looking bird, Carol. I am sure they have been at our feeder here too but my camera won't deliver like that and I am not good at the craft either.

What a lovely little bird! Our sparrows like to eat the flowers of the Forsythia and will strip them in some years. Ours didn't flower much this year, poor heavy soil i think

They're here Carol. Very confusing at first combined with the white throated sparrows.

There were three white-crowned sparrows pecking around below the feeder this morning, the first we've seen for weeks. DH noticed them first. He's growing even more addicted to the birds than I am.
I wonder if they are just strays heading north or if they will be here for a while. I suppose that would mean they wouldn't breed, and I don't want to think they have a problem, but I did miss seeing them. I've never heard of sparrows -- or any bird around here, stripping the forsythia of it's blossoms, Larry. Shhh, maybe they don't know these are edible! Too bad they didn't have many flowers this year; they are such a great source of cheer. --- I actually wrote this yesterday, but couldn't post it because GB's was down for a while, so I'm trying again today. And early this morning, there were FOUR WCSPs hopping and pecking below the feeder, accompanied by four very plain, smaller sparrows ... unrelated? It seems unlikely that they are immatures. I couldn't ID them and the light wasn't good enough to get a picture. Very confusing.
