Another shot of one of the male lazuli buntings for you, Tanya. Not much better than the last one, but a profile this time.
DH calls these lazybees, but he's the lazybee I think. He's been glued to the lounge chair in front of the bird window, watching all the commotion at the feeders. It's hard for me to sneak in a picture. He still goes into shock when he sees the lazuli buntings. The colors are just too much to take in at first. Anne

So jealous, Anne. These guys are just gorgeous and so unusual. He looks almost tropical with those bright colors.

He is a looker, Anne! I'll tell you, the Painted Bunting is a dazzler too.. sure wish I'd have gotten a pic of them when in TX. North America might not have the most unusual birds but we really do have some beauties. :)

Thank you DW, Sharon, Carol, Diane, Cal. I'd love to see the painted, Tanya, and the indigos, Claudia, but they don't hang out in this part of the country. The buntings are coming more and more to feed on the seeds that the young HOSPs kick out of the feeder. (They've been useful for something, anyway!) We've seen 5 males at once, plus several females and an immature male. I'm getting so I can recognize the females if I see them from the side. None of our other birds that size and color have bars on the wings. If they'd only spend more than a few seconds on this side of the fence, I could get some pictures. Maybe they'll grow more comfortable and start posing for me
