Thanks so much Buddies for your comments to my recent birdie posts...I'm so glad to know you enjoy! Here's some pix of a pair of Northern Cardinals from this morning. In the third photo I just missed their bonding "kiss"!! I've noticed that when the male is near the female, he seems to lose his crest! I guess the Mrs. is in charge-lol

It must be mating posture, huh? They sure make a beautiful couple. :)

Love that second shot with the female, her crest is up and she has those lovely redbuds framing her :)

Outstanding pictures of the Mr. & Mrs. Carol We once noticed them touching beaks and thought that HE feeds HER?? So now I learned they "Kiss". I wonder? In either case, he comes over as the Cavalier in my book.

lol Cal and glad to see you back again! Yes, it's a bonding gesture where the male feeds the female. Other birds such as House Finches do this too. It's not really a kiss, but it just is a cute way of describing the behavior. I've gotten the moment a couple of times, but am still looking for the ideal photo. It happens so fast!! Thanks everyone!
