Northern Flicker

House Finch bachelors

And a series with the male Eastern Bluebird...I'm not sure if the grub was a treat for the nesting female or if the chicks have hatched. This shows the predator guard that I put up AFTER they established their nesting box. It protects them from large birds such as crows and jays that would prey on the chicks and it confuses other birds that might steal the nesting box.

So far it works great! I put it up and both bluebirds didn't skip a beat with skooting down the little mesh tunnel to their nest.

Got the grub!

And down the tunnel...

Treat delivered and backing out...whoops-a-daisy...!

Mission accomplished!

Great shots!

I rarely see flickers out in the open like that. Lucky you!

Gorgeous pics.

I love the shot with the grub.

Love the guard too, what a brilliant idea, I'll try and make some for my nest boxes.

Carol, they are all beautiful. My favorite? The pair of Housefinches. What a good idea to feed the Bluebirds with.

Carol, forgot to mention, what a great idea the guard for the nest box entrance is. I remember very clearly how much trouble you had with other birds disturbing the blue birds. I am so glad you seem to have found a solution and I hope it works for them throughout the time of rearing their young.

Carol, that pic of the flicker is a prize-winner! The house finch shot is quite remarkable as well. Of course the BB shots are always adorable. Geez...I do gush over your pics but it's just that they're so GOOD!
