Most of us collect something, some people collect useful things: matches, boxes, mugs, cars... but sometimes useless things are collected too. PLEASE LET US KNOW YOURS!!! I collect ceramic plates and things from many places I've visited.
Those with the granada flower-fruit are from GRANADA, a city in Andalucía, south of Spain.
Those are called "botijo"=drinking jug used to preserve cold water in the countryside.
This one is to keep sausages or cheese in oil. I have about 100 of ceramic things or more, if you are interested I can show you more. Do you like my collection? Please let us know yours.

I love your collection, Mariae! And what an interesting home you have! Yes, I collect cook books. Don't have any photos handy. No doubt you can look at some of the pieces you've collected and remember the places you found them as well. Lovely!

The Botijos are superb Mariae. I bet they work really well. The rest of your collection is lovely too and as Diane said must be great for bringing back nice memories. Diane do you collect particular cookbooks or just any? Do you actually use them or keep them on a shelf looking pristine?! I collect lizards. Not real ones and I don't know quite how it started but now I have rather a lot. Any I am given now have to be of some use not just ornamental. Here are some of the indoor ones;

Hi Mariae I love your collection. I collect (or did as I have moved onto plants these days) Blue Staffordshire plates, American Pressed Glass, and antique silver plate. Oh, and painted, country furniture. Diane I collected cookbooks too. I have found the same cookbook my Mom had as we grew up and a great Julia Child cook book with coq au vin. It's a great recipe but very time consuming.

I am happy to say that except for the last category depicted, I no longer actively collect these things, and I wasn't the guilty party in purchasing any of these things to begin with... they were all gifts. LOL. As I sit here typing, I remember that I also have two collections of Russian plates from the Franklin Mint, which were also gifts. Ugh. Here is my unicorn collection. Sadly, my favorite one is not shown. It was a bisque unicorn my Dad brought back from Yugoslavia. It broke in a move.
This is my piggy bank collection. They are from my childhood. Again, my favorite is not shown... it was broken by my Mom when I was very young, right after I asked her to be careful and not break it.
These are my boxes. Most of this can be blamed on my husband (the wooden and stone boxes) and my Mom (the Russian and other funky boxes), although the crystal heart is something I had given to my Grandmother years ago.
But this collection is all my fault. I collect rocks, feathers, and seashells. This is only a small part of that collection (obviously the part that fits inside my box collection - LOL!).

Oh Mimi -- that is sad, Yes, it's just stuff I guess -- I had to sell my Grandmother's Poppytrail rooster dishes years ago, I had added quite a few pieces so I know a little of what you feel. I am collecting smaller things now: First is a small collection of plastic things; The ring is from my oldest brother Scott and the rosary is from my other brother Todd. They do spoil me! Really , these do have sentimental value as I know they were given spur of the moment to cheer me up during a hard time.
Next is my collection of Italian Micro Mosaics and a few similar pieces~ the red elephant was a gift from my daughter and some of the other pieces I wear to renaissance festival.
I also collect poetry books :) Mariae, I love your collection, how fun to have things from travels.

Maria, do you live in Andalucia? I will be in Malaga and Seville with my two daughters March 1 - 15. I think it would be fun to have lunch if you are anywhere near. Let me know, ok?

Sorry Lovinlife, I have been out some days. I'm terrible sorry but I live just on top of Spain, in the North. You are very lucky going to Andalucia, I love Andalucía. Please go for me to Granada, Sevilla, Córdoba (don't forget patio-gardens in Palacio-Museo de Viana), Ubeda and Baeza in Jaen, Jerez de la Frontera (vines and horses).... you will enjoy a lot there. Mimi, waiting for your collection!!!

Wow, lots of interesting and beautiful collections here. I have stoneware, plates, figurines, etc., but this one has been slowly evolving too...probably my most fun of all. :)

If you scroll up , you see I don;t have mine anymore. I was a Victorian antiques dealer for many years, which helped feed my addiction.
