Pineapple upside-down cake is a favorite around here.

Oh, my, that's a beautiful one, Donna! I haven't had that in forever, either, and yours is really making me drool. I am sort of disappointed. The search for my RVC recipe wasn't even half the treasure hunt I expected it to be. It was in part two of my clipped and/or handwritten dessert recipes, which was the second place I looked. 1 T of cocoa. I'm definitely going to amend that now!

HAHAHA!!! Ellie, I think we were on the same wavelength when we responded to Donna's Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. How funny!

Ok...Surob's picture has got to "take the cake" for WEIRDEST CAKE PRESENTATION EVER! Unfortunately it was posted 2 yrs ago so I don't think I'll get an answer as to why there are cans and jars of olives everywhere! ^_^

As soon as I saw that, the first thing I did was open her profile page to see when she had last logged on. I was so disappointed to see 2005. Even with my warped imagination, I couldn't come up with a purpose for the olives!

I'm sure now that it must be RVC. So what does Black Forest cake look like?

DJ you bring up some great threads..hehe. I bet Surob would be proud to know we are pondering that cake 2 years later. Here is my latest cake. They say the ugliest ones are the best...hehe. This one had quite a slant but so yummmmm. White chocolate Raspberry

Yum, Suzy! But if you want to see an ugly cake, I made one earlier this year that only a little boy could love. It was a white train-shaped cake dripping with green and yellow icing (the colors of a John Deere tractor).

That is so funny! Now that is what I expect to see when people post pictures of cakes (or any dessert, for that matter). Either that or dirty empty plates or cakes still safely baking away in the oven.

Shame on all of you for making me salivate here. I haven't baked a cake in years because of calories and because I just don't do well in the baking category. But now I have to have one. I think I could do pretty well with one of those pineapple upside down cakes. Also remember that, about 12 years ago, my guests were loving a rum cake that was really really moist. Oh yeah, this weekend it'll be cake baking time.

I wonder if that's the same one my Grandmother and Aunt used to make in the '80s? It seemed to be made of mostly rum and sat in a puddle of rum, getting tastier and tastier each day. Whooo-eeee!

My problem is that I LOVE to bake and don't have enough people around to help eat the goodies. I will make desserts and coffee cakes & bring them into work sometimes. I would bake everyday if I wouldn't think it would go to waste or if I knew I wouldn't eat every last bit of it. I can't send them to my mom's because she is well known for all of her baking. She bakes EVERY DAY! I grew up with that. My friends were jealous. I would trade them home made choc chip cookies for store bought ones (yes, they thought I was crazy too)!

Won't you be my neighbor?
I'm probably the only one in my entire family who would know if that were true because I was constantly sneaking slices until there was only a small bit left. I wonder if anyone ever noticed. They were probably thinking that they had consumed it themselves and just thought they couldn't remember doing it because of all of the rum in it!
