One of the pleasures of autumn is grass rustling and swaying in the wind. Zebra Grass

I agree! Here is my Pampas grass, which grows along the creek at the back of our garden. Its so beautiful when the late afternoon sun hits it...

On the herb of the pampas I would like to say that though at first it seems to me to be nice, also it can turn out to be a plague, since it is the case in my region. Some years ago, 30 or more, "pampa's herbs" appeared the first and everybody liked them, but now they have colonized enormous surfaces of area and have turned into a plague against that it is necessary to fight, but it is very difficult to eliminate them, because they must have a few very deep roots and still not even burning them they die. Is not the same in your region???

Hi Mariae, I'm surprised to hear that, because Pampas grass is not weedy at all here. Maybe its a case of one plant being invasive in one region, but not another. Here in Northern California, Broom (Cytisus sp) is very much a weed, but they sell it at Home Depot (our local big box store) because it isn't weedy in other regions.

I imagine that, perhaps it will not be invasive in your zone, but here the weather must be ideal for them and now it is a problem. Approximately 25-30 years ago it started colonizing the not cultivated fields. You can see the pics (from the road) the surroundings of the railroad line.

It is a bit of a weed here too, but I've never seen a stand like that Mariae. I love the majestic look of the stuff, but I would never plant it.

bought a grass , a purp'le one, for my sweet baa~boo over the weekend at Lowes, Dont know what kind it is. or how big it will get. Have to go back to the store and see if I can find a better info tag. I like to see them in the WInter. adds interest to your dull garden. But alot of people wack them back by then. I like to do that in the Spring.
