The ladies, Wistaria Blossom, Cloth-of-Silk, and Deep Snow, With their ten attendants, Are come to Asakusa To gaze at peonies. To admire crimson-carmine peonies, To stare in admiration at bomb-shaped, white and sulphur peonies, To caress with a soft finger Single, rose-flat peonies, Tight, incurved, red-edged peonies, Spin-wheel circle, amaranth peonies. To smell the acrid pungence of peony blooms, And dream for months afterwards Of the temple garden at Asakusa, Where they walked together Looking at peonies. Amy Lowell

I have buds but no blooms yet - I can't wait. Short-lived pleasure but I wouldn't be without them. Love the poem!

I like the poetry, Mary. Here's a photo I just got a few hours ago...I like this phase too. :) Another week or two for the herbaceous and tree forms to open.

Too cute Karma! Mine are in the same stage but I haven't seen any Ladybugs yet this year. But the ants have been by to visit so it won't be too long til they open. They remind me of olives stuffed with extra large pimentos at this stage! hehe Tanya I can't wait to see your prizes open. Beautiful photos and flowers Mary :-)

One of my white ones (Duchess De Nemours) has literally grown inches this week with the sun and warm temperatures. These really are the most amazing plants!

My first one opened this evening, this one is still small and was up under that huge tree so we are glad to see her bloom. We don't have a name for her but was told she would be earlier than the others.

They are all so pretty =) I'd never seen Peonies in person till now, so I've been super anxious to see mine open. Laugh if you want at my newness, but I didn't realize they had such a lovely scent! I leaned down to sniff it this morning and I nearly fell over, I was NOT expecting it to smell like a rose!

Looks like many of our firsts are red :) Is that a fern-leaf peony, Mary? Lovely. My first peony to bloom - a tree peony:

Not sure what it is Susan, a neighbor gave it to my mother ~ it is so pretty and delicate and has lasted quite a few years so far. Your tree peony is beautiful~
All of these are pretty, keep them coming!

I don't have a name for my tree peony, but I enjoy the pink in the center. It almost looks like reflection.
I am very fond of the red peony. Wish I had one of those. (I would like one of everything, I think!)

Diane, I think the name of your tree peony is "Exquisite". All of your peonies are just wonderful. Like other spring blooms, don't you wish they lasted a little longer!
