There's a regular gaggle of poultry atop my fridge - roosters, hens, and even a pheasant -
and, I have the twin to Tanya's rooster.
* Oh, and that little cardinal is a salt shaker . . . but that's a different thread. *lol*

Funny, Loretta! That's great, Ellie! Looks like a very quiet and well-mannered flock.

Yes, Loretta, it sure is, I've always loved Jadeite, and collected most of mine when it could be had very cheaply. I really haven't found any affordable pieces in recent years.
I've had friends scold me for using it, but we do use it daily. Ooops, that pic is off-topic . . . unless a male flamingo could be called a rooster.

Can we count flamingos, Donna? Jadite - I was trying to remember the right name. It got pricey here too. I blame Martha Stewart for that. You should use it to really enjoy it. Sorry for the off-topic comment. I may find a rooster yet in my small kitchen...love all your pictures. They do make a nice objet d'art, don't they. Ingmarie, I don't think it would be sanitary to have your handsome guy hanging out in the kitchen.

Before the barn door strutted the gallant cock, that pattern of a husband, a warrior and a fine gentleman, clapping his burnished wings and crowing in the pride and gladness of his heart -- sometimes tearing up the earth with his feet, and then generously calling his ever-hungry family of wives and children to enjoy the rich morsel which he had discovered. Hi Mimi, it's great to meet you. No, alas, I don't have those wonderful S&P shakers , but, I did manage to get my paws on a sugar shaker.
