It's official.. today is the first day that some may dread...the end of summer. But, there's a lot of nice weather ahead for most of us. In the next few weeks many of us will experience beautiful fall foliage, apple and pumpkin harvests, blazing maples, and hobgoblins. Not all the good stuff is outside though. There are those of us who make some seasonal changes indoors as well. Whatever's your pleasure, let's see some of your autumn photos. I'll get the ball rolling.

The blazing maples are probably the number one attraction here too, Marie. Aren't those gorgeous?!

Me too, Denise. We had a number of them come up from last season's cast-offs. It's the only pumpkins I've ever grown (Hah!) and I was so happy!

These are great autumn shots. Time to get out the scarecrows and go shopping for pumpkins.

Oh, nuts, finally, FINALLY we have a digi camera so I can play with assignments, and the newest topic is autumn, and its spring here.
You can have my snapdragons then.

Wimps!

*LOL* Tanya, you are SOO right,
I am THE cold weather wimp of all-time!

WOW!! That rose just takes my breath away!
And speaking of breath, I'll bet it smells like heaven.

With nighttime temperatures still routinely in the 70's here,
what little bit of fall color we do get
won't begin to show for quite some time yet.

So I hope it's okay that I went fishing through
my pictures from autumns past.

Our weeping Yaupon Holly
in full fruit,
with the Japanese Maple behind it.
A few days after I got the photo, the birds stripped every berry.

I love the contrast of the crimson foliage against the sky.

An autumn/Thanksgiving display in our front yard.

As you can see, even well into November, the Live Oak trees
and Azaleas keep it looking rather green around here.

I love your snapdragons, Greth...you must be very glad Spring has arrived! Congrats on your new digi toy!

Your fall shots are overthemoon, Ellie. I lost my Jap. Maple last season and still mourning. :( Oh, yours is gorgeous. Your fall vignette.. neato! I had a yaupon holly when living in TX but I like yours.. a weeper...very pretty!

Great fall captures, Mary. I really like those white pumpkins...they are so neat in with orange pumpkins and gourds. I can just about smell that fragrant hay!

Thanks so much,DJ! I can take credit for the wagon and location but the pumpkins are from my sister and BIL's garden. Nice to know someone else is a bit obsessed with carving as well. I am an artist,(another thing we have in common), and find pumpkins and gourds to be quite an appealing canvas to paint.

Autumn on a farm must be heaven on earth. I'll post some pics later, but we're only seeing color here in the mountains -- not yet in our valley.
