Well "I" don't trust and don't like dishwashers and what do you need one for if each person just washes their own stuff as they go? I don't load or unload the dishwasher because I always just wash my own and put it in the strainer.
guess I'm gonna have to read back through the archives afterall. btw, I do have some BullieDuh moments. They rubbed off on me. I've seen them walk into the room. Stop. Blink a couple of times. Then kind of lower their head and walk back out like they forgot what they came in for. :)

looks like you chose your own name Blaine LOL! Seems you know what this thread is about even without reading through it. 'Duhbrains' on the net'. hAS A CERTAIN RING TO IT (DARN gone capital for a minute there!) don't you think? Have to say if hubby bought me a dishwasher for Christmas I would have to buy him something equally as useful....a new hoover perhaps or a nice ironing board!

Yea, that works! HAHAHA!
I don't have one of those, either. Not even a bad one. Well, except the living room floor, and believe me -- that is uber bad. I ironed a set of new thermal draperies on the living room rug last winter. Thought I had picked up all of the crayon bits before I started. Guess not, though.
We have a new Bissell (picked out by the husband - 45 bucks). It seems to blow rather than suck, so not much use at all. Well, I suppose it does the latter, too, depending on how you define it, and does the former in more ways than one.

Now why'd you have to bring up things that suck, like vacuums? Sore point here. I'm lucky if one lasts a year. I just put one on the curb last week and have another that's going away. It was very nice, direct drive so they hadn't been able to break that but what does my youngest do. When emptying the cannister she throws the filter and assembly away with to. :( Haven't been able to locate a replacement and now with two bulldogs (short haired shedding machines - WHITE no less) with 2 bullies it looks like the girls will get another "Christmas" present. :) I'm vacuuming now with my flippin shopvac! :)

Aaaaah, the vacuum of the gods! We have two: one for the house and one for everywhere else. LOL. My Oreck just died after 5 yrs... 10 yrs? We used to do Dirt Devils and the like, just about every year. The Oreck was the first good vac I'd had since a Singer I bought in the '80s. I had bought the Singer because I saw one used in a hair salon I used to go to. Worked like a charm, but I don't think they make it anymore. Forget why I quit using it. If I could have anything, I'd want a refurbished Filter Queen. My Mom and Grandmother each had one for eons and they never broke. Just couldn't find the filters anywhere after many years.

OH PLEASE!!!! There is more to life than cleaning the carpet. I was being ironic when I said I would buy him one or an ironing board for that matter. He would kill me with it unless of course I had already dishwashed him to death for buying me a dishwasher. Now what I would really like for Christmas is a new pair of secateurs or some (blindingly obvious if I lose them) handled forks and trowels. Thats my idea of good Xmas presents...On the girly front earrings never go unnoticed.

I've thinking the same thing. Otherwise some certain residents would do it more. Sometimes I think the vac's die early deaths to eliminate using them at all. work the man - ask for something that would require him to get a new power tool. :) Everytime I have to overhaul a room... whoops! Gotta have this. That's how I justified my air tank -> which I needed for the air gun to save time replacing base boards and I thought the room needed crown moulding too. :) Actually that's how I got my first shop vac and this summer I finally got to include a mitre table saw Whoop Whoop!! That or get him a tool outright but in the card, tell him how he's going to use it first. :)
Amen! One of the "gotta haves" I've included for overhauling the living room is a portable shop vac. I didn't want to bang up the walls I'd worked so hard on patching, sanding, painting and sponge glazing. Right? This job also means I'm finally throwing out a bigscreen tv that she keeps saying will only cost $500 to fix but she's never done it. FOR SIX YEARS it's been standing down here. Oh, and I'm also confiscating the big Kenwood speakers to add to my garage. heh, heh!! Let spring come and the beer be cold.

Yes, and that's why the parrots have been banned to their own room in my house. LOL! Food everywhere, feathers everywhere, their downy underwear everywhere. They're worse than men and children! LOL!

woe is me that I have to be included in that broadly cast net (men)! The script is flipped here. I'm always picking up socks, belts, scrunchies, etc. and throwing them on the owner's bed. My neighbor had a pair of McCaws. Beautiful to look at but I decided they were {wait} {wait} for the birds!! :)

Fraid it doesn't work like that in my house. I ask for something to be fixed. He says he can't fix it cos he doesn't have a .... I buy the tool he is missing....then fix it myself!
You have parrots? Where? Show me pictures.
Now I am seriously impressed. First time I have read/seen/heard that. I am collectorupperer person in my house.

I don't know if you noticed that I wasn't here for several hours but I have a little story to tell. I forgot [OoGBoO] to mention that last week (when I said I had to go as I was going out on last Xmas shop with friends.)things didn't quite go to plan. I was 2nd to be picked up of 6 which took just over half an hour and then we drove for just under an hour to http://www.keydellnurseries.co.uk/about.htm One problem....my friend knew they were open late near Christmas but had not actually checked which day. We presumed she knew, she presumed we had checked. Long and the short of it...we spent the evening walking round a nearby Asda superstore LOL! This evening I got a phonecall asking me why I had not answered my mobile (I had forgotten it and left it at home on charge [OoGBoO])T}hey were waiting for me to go AGAIN only this time the right evening!

SSSSUUURRPPPRRIIISEEE!!!
Hiya [OoGBoO]'s!!! I finally made it to a computer with internet other than at work. As DJ mentioned, my employer said everyone must cut back on internet use & no personal email use, so that leaves me with visiting my mom or one of my sister's to use their computer. I had a lot of catching up to do on this thread. After crying from cutting & cooking onions tonight, I came in to read this thread & am in tears again from all of your posts. There is way too much to catch up on & for some reason, I cannot scroll all the way over to the right side of the screen to the button which takes my selected hilighted text & copies your quotes into my posts. Welcome [OoGBoO]Steve & [OoGBoO]Blain !!! In case you have not followed all the posts here, I am [OoGBoO] Oh, and funny you mention vacuums...I have been contemplating on buying a new one for about 3 years. I got one for my wedding 5 years ago & I hate it (I keep wondering why I let DH pick it out when I am the one that uses it!!)....If I won the lottery tomorrow I think the first thing I would buy would be an Animal Dyson sweeper!!! lol, but I am not joking!! haha

LISA!!!!! [ OoGBoO ] Surprisingly I remember who you are. Great that you found a way to get back on here.
Now Lisa that is just plain silly. Why would you need a vacuum cleaner when you can afford to pay a cleaner to vacuum?!

did ya notice I didn't say anything about picking up shoes? OMG, they used to be left on the stairs, kicked off in the bathroom before taking a shower and left there, here there everywhere. I grouched a lot but no more. God bless power-chewing Bulldogs!!!! I kept telling them not to leave stuff laying around. The dogs are good and only chew their toys. BUT, leave footware out and not pay attention to their wherabouts... it won't be wearable. I think the smell of feet to a bulldog is like catnip to a cat. A flip-flop, slipper, high heel, boot, sneaker get eaten. "Oh well. I told you to put your stuff up". :) I just realized I haven't seen shoes left around in a couple of months. I also remind them that I haven't had one belt, coat, boot or shoe chewed up since we've had the dogs. Hmmm, I wonder why. Hi Ya [OoGBoO] Lisa!! (I don't know what that means yet but will go back and review archives. maybe. :) Dyson? Nahhh, go get the Hoover that got Consumer Report's pick and while you're at it, get the spray paint color of your choice. Paint your new vac and spend the extra $200 on some plants or something. :)

hehehe
hehehe, it took me a minute to comprehend that (I used to be a blonde, lol)! I need a vacuum cleaner because I am the cleaner that gets paid to vacuum!!! (I clean for people...guess that is why I never feel like cleaning my own house)lol!
Huh, who knew? Not me! Thanks for the info. Yes, I'd love to see it as having 200 extra bucks to spend on PLANTS!! Now that is my kind of thinking .

I shall work on that.
Lisa is such a good [OoGBoO]. She's so good that she forgot the trashcan in her insignia. LOL: [OoGBoO]\ /
That's funny. I'd never heard of that before. I wonder if it would suck up my hair without dying.
That's a great story.

Wow, that place looks huge! I could spend all day there (as long as I didn't have to go into those pink girlie areas). What fun. You must have been so disappointed when they turned out to be closed. LOL.

Welcome to {0o0Gbo0} territory, Blaine, or should I say BullieDUH! Vaccuums and dishwashers! Oh for shame! That's household stuff not gifts. Gifts should be things you want for yourself that you wouldn't spend the money on because you HAVE to buy a new vaccuum or dishwasher. PUHleeeze, everyone knows Diamonds are a girls best friend! Lisa, do go with the Hoover. I sprang for their best one about 5 years ago and the thing works like a charm and is industructable, I swear. I actually had mine fall down a flight of stairs and it was still running when it hit the bottom. Nothing broken, nothing dented. Besides, I've heard a lot of people say when they dump those bagless cup things the dust just ends up back everywhere unless you take it outside to dump and who wants to do that when it's 20 degrees out and snowing.

You mean like when a guy gives a girl a rechargeable drill because that's what he wants? LOL!
What, you're not going to ask for roses? Oh, wait, I think I see. Diamond earrings on a rose bush would probably make a very beautiful gift. Certainly very thoughtful.
That has me laughing uncontrollably! And how did you hold up? Hahaha! That's a whole new twist on "the butler did it." That ranks up there with the old Samsonite commercials with the gorilla.
