These are some plants that are in flower in my greenhouse today.

I think the coum are crossed with alpinum..because of the flower shape

Can anyone tell me if the parviflorum in sub alpinum...as it is a different flower to my others.

You have a really nice collection there Dee. Did any of them come home with you on your trip to the Cyclamen Society Show or Ashwood this February?

I really like your creticum and psuedibericum, heck I like them all!

Hi Denise,

I don't know if it is a crossing C. coum x C. alpinum. If I visit a professional grower in the Netherlands I find hundreds of propeller shaped flowers between all C. coum. All plants are from own seeds and the grower has no C. alpinum. I have some as well, I think that flower shape within C. coum is variable.

Regards,

Jan

Hi Terry,

No, these are plants I've either grown from seed, or bought last year. I like the creticum too....it has lovely long flowers which I like.

I went to Ashwoods yesterday and only bought one cyclamen....how good is that!

I hope all your cyclamen are doing well.

Thanks for that info Jan. I didn't realise that coum was that variable. I quite like the propellor type flowers....I really like the first white flower, it's both propellor like and twisted. I hope it sets seed for me.

Dee, I agree with Jan, I think the Cyclamen coum now available are extremely variable with little evidence of any crossing with C.alpinum.I do however think there is a real advantage when planting out those that look as though they have an alpinum influence because when viewed from above they look bigger and have a greater visual impact. I do like the C.pseudibericum, really nice flowers.

Thanks for that Melvyn. I don't plant enough of my plants outside....I really should...greenhouses are heaving now.
I think that pseudibericum is the best photo I've ever taken...don't know how I managed it.

Here are a couple more pseudibericum....the first is very dark...and a tall twisted flower, looks like it needs watering, but it doesn't.
the second, well, looks washed out....no dark spot at all....you wouldn't think they were the same species would you.

I was on the cs pseudibericum trip in 2002 and we collected some plants identical to this. I think this is an attractive variation.

Well that's encouraging Pat. I was thinking 'poor breeding stock', should I keep it or not....well I will now :)

How fantastic to have been on the 2002 pseudibericum CS trip, (or any of the CS field trips)...and seeing all the lovely flower and leaf variations.
