Here are a couple of pictures of what I grew around my mailbox last year, this year I have planned a much better display. For Cosmos this year I will be doing shades or red/pink colored. Candy Strip, Day Dream, Picotee and Gloria, I may add in some white also, if I have room. Pink and white babies Breath. Tall and dwarf Multi colored bachelor Buttons.

Well I transplanting my Cyclamen. Not a easy task, I had to break roots apart. The very tiny ones, I left 2 per pot. One pot has 4 very tiny ones it it, I was afraid about breaking the roots, being so tiny. My bigger ones, I put 1 to a pot. Next time when I get some seed, I will put one seed per into one of those germination cells, they look to be an inch by inch in size. That way it's easy to transplant and no breaking of the root system.

It certainly is not an easy task, I can attest to that! Maybe that is one of the reasons Tim recommends getting them out of the pot sooner than most people do. I know you may not want to think of putting one to each pot, but unless you have put them into very large pots, you may land up with tangled roots again. If Tim were available to comment (on his trip) he would probably say they will take this treatment, they are tough. I still have a great deal of my coum in the same pots I started them in and that should be some chore when I get around to separating them.

Thought I would post a picture of my biggest Cyclamen. Also a picture, of my project around my mail box this year. The Cosmos on the right side of the picture, where put in last week, they are weeks behind the ones on the left.I had a problem getting certain cosmos types to germ, since I have four different cosmos growing I wanted them placed in order, not just placed where ever. On the back side, of the mail box, I have 5 Grey Stripe Sunflower growing, with Black Bachelor Buttons in between and around them. Should be very pretty, with the white and pink Babies breath. I have a couple more pink Babies Breath I still need to add.

They look great Guff. Do you have your pots outside or indoors? Tim might suggest having the tuber in the soil more, perhaps he will give this a look and advise. You seem to have a knack for growing from seed.

They are outside in the shade. They don't seem to be going dormant, still growing leaves. I was going to put some small stones/sand mix on top, just haven't gotten around to climbing down in the gully/creek to collect some. Well I see Seneca Hills has their price list up. I will be ordering this week. Think I will go for the Hederifolium pink and white 100/$6 I will get two packs of each color. I may also get a pack of Purpurascens. It says it is fragrant and is the most hardy. Hopefully next fall, mine will produce some seeds, and I won't have to purchase any more, unless I try the Coum down the road. Maybe trade for some, when I am getting seeds.

They seem to be doing great Guff. Will you be planting any out this fall into the garden? I have noticed some new growth on my hederifolium too. That is what I hope to do soon. Of course then I will be worrying about them all winter long. I also will keep a few for indoors, just to observe their progress at a closer range. By far my c. purpurascens are doing the best. Some of them are to the point that they really look like decent size plants. They also keep their leaves close to the soil line which makes them very neat looking.

Mine don't seem to be going dormant, and now that summer is almost over. Did you notice if yours went dormant? I plan on bringing them inside come end of October. Since I only have a little over 40, and most have 2 plants in each pot, they won't take up much room. I don't want to risk losing any, and I want them to get as big as possible this winter, I hope to have some flowers come next Fall. How many do you have 600+?

Received my Cyclamen seeds today, including a bonus pack of 35 seeds,it's well over 50 seeds by the looks of it. Can't beat that. Curious about the Purpurascens, it says in the instructions they germ whenever(weeks to months)? not like the normal 2-3 weeks like the the Hederifolium. What was your experience with the Purpurascens germ time, TerryK ?

I had decided to only get one pack each of the pink/white well marked Hederifolium, and two packs of the Purpurascens instead of one. She gave me a bonus pack of Hederifolium silver leaves/pink flowers. Glad I didn't order the other two packs, because there are a lot more then 100 seeds in the 100 seed packs, and the bonus pack has well over 50 seeds.

I was looking at my cyclamen today, and noticed one has what looks to maybe have a flower? Maybe it's just a leaf, but it does look different to me, more pod shaped. I tried to take a picture, but it's hard to see. I guess in a couple weeks will tell. This cyclamen looks different then others, maybe it isn't a Hederifolium. When I bought the seeds last Jan 05, the seller said that they were mostly fall flowering, so I think maybe I got a mix of different cyclamen.
