There's still not a lot in flower here, so I have taken some photos of leaves instead. Some are mediocre, others are quite nice. The plant in the last photo is my own favourite. There are still enough C. purpurascens in flower to fill the glasshouse with a pleasant scent, but when the C. alpinum start to flower, the scent from their flowers will take over. On a sunny day it can be over-powering. One plant has a flower open and the rest should follow in the next couple of weeks.

Tim, they are wonderful leaf patterns. The last plant seems a bit different in shape, more scalloped and heart shaped. I can see why you would find this to be your favorite. If it were not for the fact that the flowers are scented these leaves could make a person very happy to have them as part of a collection. I have to check my alpinum to see if they have any buds. By the way, how old are these plants?

The foliage is pretty. The last one looks as though it has been snowed on or has been spatter painted.

Tim, that last one is fantastic! It has got these four different shades of silver to green PLUS a beautiful shape PLUS that dark wine in the veins and along the margins. A great combination. Put me down for seeds from this one ... :-)

Tim the last leave looks like some mirabile blood in the plant, the scalloped margin and the dark christmas tree in the middle just coming up to the right time.

Carol, it's beautiful! The leaves are very nice even if they did not have such nice flowers. Your last photo of the side view of the flower is great. Every detail is captured in the photo. You should e-mail it to Tim and see if you can get it on the cyclamen society's website!

Hi Tim and Carol and others (some of whom I don't know...). I love the different leaf patterns Tim and the photos of the various plants in flower, especially Carol's great closeups (you have become quite the photo artist Carol!). I have 3 or 4 pots of this species now, all in flower, one with very dark magenta - pinkish red flowers even darker than Carol's. I think this has become one of my favorite species. The fragrance of the flowers is so wonderful especially on days the greenhouse gets a bit warmer.

C. alpinum is more or less in full flower here too. I like your plant, Berthold - how long have you had that plant? I saw alpinum in a couple of places in Turkey back in October/November 2003, and in one place many plants were growing on a vertical rock face where the tubers were either growing in small crevices, or actually on the horizontal parts of the rocks which made up the rock face. Lots of the tubers were exposed and only just rooted in moss. In flower at last, Carol! Is the scent filling up the porch? I agree with David - it's one of my favourites too, although I've probably said that about most species on this forum...

Tim your glasshouse must be a joy to visit. Of course the garden with hellebores in bloom is not bad either. You must be a happy guy these days when you go out to the garden.
