Tony_willis, here is Victoria. I had forgotten I took this picture. This plant was outside all summer. Second picture is from the plant I tried using to cross. It's more purple compared to the plant in the first picture.

Looks like the New Year is going to start off well with all your purpurascens germinating. Happy New Year Guff!

TerryK, Happy New Years! Looks like a have a pod setting. I tried tapping the flowers, but I didn't see any pollen drop. So I took a tooth pick, and brushed it in and between, then the pollen would fall. I then collected the pollen , and pollinated the flowers.

Cilicium update. They were taking forever. I think my grit kept drying out too fast and was stalling their root growth, so I mixed in alittle soil. They seem to be doing much better now.

My cyclamen outside seem to be doing well so far. This winter has been very strange. No snow other then a dusting, and it has been very warm. I ended up having to put a fence around the beds, my cats were using them as a litter box. It doesn't keep the squirrels out, so I'm going to have to pickup some chicken wire.

Even with the cats doing there thing, they seem to be doing very well Guff. Hederifolium leaves get so big (indoors anyway!). You are going to have to move them around sooner than you think but at least the tuber will be a nice size and you will find it easier to handle.

TerryK, I had a couple dug up by squirrels last week or so, and they were about the size of a penny. They only had 2 or 3 leaves. My guess the ones with 7-8 leaves are much bigger. I have a second purpurascens seed pod setting. I have 6 more flowers still to come on my biggest plant. Hopefully I can get those to set as well. It will be nice when I have thousands of seeds, then I can really go crazy.

Purpurascens update of my two tubs. I have a nice assortment of leaves this time. Last picture, this seedling was growing so well, I pricked out the other seedling I had in the pot.

TerryK, The above seedling germinated in August 2006. It's a fast growing plant, 9 leaves growing/forming. I'm going to stick with Purpurascens mostly, so much easier to grow once the seed germinates. A sea of Purpurascens......oh what a scent.

TerryK, it keeps putting up more flower grow tips. I counted 9 forming today. I had two flowers that I tried pollinating with Victoria pollen. One flower didn't make it, I droped my glasscope on it and bent/damaged it, so it withered away. Two with seed pods, and hopefully one more on the open flower, makes a total of 15 flowers, not bad for a 1 year old plant. I will add though, the leaves are not as nice as the other two plants in the tub.
