This is my backyard with my crazy names for the beds. Dick's rock garden, backyard west (perennial bed), BYE 1 and 2 (behind chairs is daylily bed) and under Princeton Maple is asiatic and oriental lily bed. To the back is backyard north or eyelid. That has glads and mums, etc. The names allow me to have a database of plants obtained. I forget what I've planted, senior moments.

What a lovely space! I think you just finished mowing and edging before taking the photo! I have to laugh though about the names. We have trouble talking about places here at the farm and have named things too: the groundhog trail, the bloodroot trail, the northwoods (hahaha! 20 trees), the blue & yellow garden, etc. Even the house has names for the rooms: the granny bedroom, the "white" room which is no longer white, the family room, etc. Generally, we now know what the other is talking about!

You do have a very lovely garden, so spacious and organized. The blue chairs are so inviting. I would also love to see some closeup shots of the individual beds.

glump, Missgarden, you would find out I don't trim or weed well. I shall look for closer shots. Every season is different so it may be a mix of time.

I checked past pictures and this time of year my garden is starting to dry up. We need RAIN, here, not a few miles away. If I find some that would be useful I'll send them or photo with that idea in the future. Want some picture of JB damage? grrr

What a gorgeous area, Eileen! I love the stones, fence, curves and depth of space. You must have acres!

I love the wide open country feel to your landscape. The chairs are so inviting - they must be a good place to sit and bird watch. We are exceptionally dry here too. The hottest summer on record since 1955.

Eileen, that's a beautiful shot of your garden! As has been said before, it does look very inviting! What tree is that golden/green one? It looks a bit like my Harlequin maple. I love rocks worked into the country garden...great job!

Thank you all. We have 26 acres, but 16 of those is wooded steep hillside. I am finally up in the sun on the ex-pasture. Our old home was shady and sluggy. My hubby loves to move rocks about. I tell him they grow weeds, but he loves to do that. The Princeton Maple is the bright green tree in BYE2 (backyard east #2). Hubby is in charge of trees and got it for me as a surprise when I got home from the hospital one year. Ho, ho, for me? It shows up from long distances. We love it. The chair face west so birding is not as easy as butterflying. We are birders. Bluebirds love to sit on the fence.

I'm echoing everyone's comments Eileen. And it is great to hear that you and your husband are birders.

Blue spruce it is! I love evergreens (born in the Evergreen State, Washington). Spruce grow slowly, but already they are starting to crowd beds. I had to dig iris out from under those itchy branches this year. Poor planning on my part led to the dig. Your annual beds make my brown thumb jealous. They are a dream.
