The front yard is just so flat and I wanted to add some height. I ended up having dh and dh's father help me cut out a bed and place large boulders in there....I am now all ready to plant some goodies. I have bought a dwarf (red) Rhodie called scarlett wonder to place behind one of the rocks and a small forsythia bush (also doesn't grow too tall) for the other side of the rhodie. Just to start.... Here's some pictures...don't mind the "ugly fence" around it right now...that's to keep the school kids out of it until I can get a really nice "country fence(post and rail)one up.

Here is the type of fence I want to put along the front and down the sides a bit..having them "fall" on the last rungs...Country style. This will go with my primitive country home decor on the inside, bringing my love of it to the outside as well.

This should give your front yard a new point of focus. It looks very nice. The fence should add well. Now for the plants!

I like what you have done and agree with Ej that a fence will be a nice addition. It is also a nice idea to bring the style of your home outside. I haven't thought much about that but it certainly makes sense. Rocks always add charm in my opinion.

First install the fence...then I'll bet all the grass gets removed quickly and the flowers expand to the edges!
