You've seen some of our back yard gardens- here's some of the beds in our front garden. I just put this bed in 2 years ago. I told myself I was going to just do shrubs so it would be easy to care for but I find I have to have MORE color & interest - shrubs are far too boring by themselves! So I'll be working on getting many more perennials & annuals in it next year- plant shopping-YESSS!! The bed is about 100 feet long all together.
This is the garden around the gazebo.
This is the vegging-out area on our deck- as opposed to the vegging-out area in the gazebo!
Some more of the back yard beds
It's midnight so I must go to bed- but not in the garden!!

It's just so lovely in your gardens, that I would find it hard to go to bed too, Cory. You've done an outstanding job.

Wow...I feel like I've just paged thru an expensive garden magazine...how incredibly friendly and absolutely LOVELY your gardens and "vegging" areas are! Thanks for posting the pics. Now, if I could magically transform my yard into a Zone 7...sigh. (we are zone 5, but dry-dry-dry and windy-windy-windy...kinda perched on almost a sand dune.)

What a nice place to relax and enjoy the garden. Do you not have trouble with deer?

Thanks everyone- we love our gardens, too-- although sometimes I wish the weeds & slugs didn't like it so much! We haven't had a lot of deer problems, Lesliedon- until this year when they came up from the back of the farm & pruned my rose bed something fierce. I tried a deer-off thing that I got from a nursery but it washed off in one day of rain- & we get a lot of rain here in NW WA. So next time I tried Linda (dahlianut's) solution of a whipped up egg in water & sprayed that on. So far they don't like it-- or they're down in the back 40 trimming the blueberry bushes! We have more of a problem w/ rabbits. I'm about ready to rent my grand-daughter's cat to get rid of the little beasties.

How did you begin along the treeline? I have a country treeline that I'd love to do that with as well - did you have to clear all the weeds or did you just plant out from the treeline?
