Here are some mid season Primula Allionii. The season is about 2 weeks early this year, these normally flower in early March.

Really lovely, I do love these little primulas, (they look little, but what size are those pots Pat?) I've not bought any....yet, but the more photos you post, the more my resistance weakens!

Anything from 10cm to 19cm. Primula Allionii is a slow plant and can take anything from 8 to 10 years to fill a 19cm pot, some varieties never will.

Thanks for showing us where they live, I can see the different pot sizes now...and the different flower size...lovely. Do you only water the plunge Pat, and not the pots...., also, do plastic pots benefit at all from being plunged, can they take water up from the base?...sorry to keep asking questions.

Only the plunge in winter but in the pots as well in the growing season.
I prefer not to plunge plastic pots as it is too easy to overwater. The ideal way to grow in plastic is to sit them in shallow trays and water from the bottom. If I was to start from scratch this is the way I would grow all my plants and when I move house after the kids have left home this is what I intend to do.

Yet more lovely plants Pat....what beauties. I got lucky yesterday and bought my first 10! I was so excited when I spotted them for sale at an AGS conference. They are all very small..but look healthy enough. I just hope I can do them justice and grow them as well as you....any tips you can give me will be most welcome. I'll try and post some piccies if I can manage it (they are very small).

I spied a white one in there, Eureka, what a great name. I prefer white forms to pink. They are all lovely (and great photos!) but that one is my favourite. It is really nice seeing how you grow them too. They look wonderful all together in your greenhouse/alpine house.

There are only 3 white ones as far as I know, Snowflake and Avalanche being the other two. These two are very miffy and rarely do you see a large plant of either. Eureka is a much better clone with a lot more vigour and better flowers.

The following are the primula allionii I bought recently, they are very small but hopefully, with a little TLC, they'll grow. Apologies for the photo quality. There was another plant I got called Maris Tabbard, but I don't think thats an allionii

Hi Dee, What lovely pictures. The photo quality is good. I particularly like the picture of "Andrew". But all the plants and their colours are very attractive. Looks like Pat will have competition in the future... I wonder if they come true from seed? Thanks for sharing.

Hi Roy, they are very pretty aren't they. My favourite is Neon, the photo doesn't do it justice, it's a very strong colour. These are only in 7cm pots and the plants are very small....a long way to go to catch up with Pats. I could have bought a lot more, but unfortunately, my money ran out. I do hope I look after them ok...I would hate to lose them now.

My goodness Dee, you are dangerous! And I can see poor Roy was not part of this gardening adventure. He must be hard at work, is hubby joining you now? Your glasshouse is going to look very nice with the cyclamen and these.

I couldn't help myself Terry. When Pat posted his, I just fell in love with them....don't know why, I've never been into primulas before, but they are soooo pretty, I think. I have Pat to thank for introducing them to me. There were several plant stalls at the 'Plants of Turkey and Georgia' AGS conference, where I met Tony...that's where I got them. I went on my own! No Hubby, no Roy, just little old me...brilliant day, with fantastic talks from the experts, of their experiences discovering plants in these countries....and I went home with these beauties....what better way to spend a day.
