I don't know if this is the right topic to post these on but as there is not one for Alpines and these are primulaceae and closely related so here goes. Dionysia Aretiodes x 2
Dionysia Microphylla x Freitagii x 2

Pat, do you clip them to form the shape or does nature do that on it's own?

This is their natural form. They are high alpine cushion plants from Iran and Afghanistan where they grow on north facing cliffs in limestone gorges.

Anywhere would be the right place to post these beauties! Congratulations on growing them so successfully. I imagine it isn't easy, considering their natural habitat.

Very nice! What size pots are those in? Did you grow them from seed?

These are in 19cm pots. I am lucky in that the best Dionysia grower in England is one of my best friends so I have a ready supply. I used to grow about 50 different ones but they are time consuming and difficult. You need a constant supply of rooted cuttings as they can collapse and die for no reason at any time. Most plants are raised from cuttings, it is possible to raise them from seed but in England hand pollination is the only way. The best seed raised plants come from growers in Germany like Michael Kammerlander where they flower later and insects are on the wing to pollinate them. As with all primulas there are pin and thrum eyed plants ( male and female ) and you need both for seed set.
I used to show them a lot at AGS shows and have won many prizes with them but interests change and I no longer attend many AGS shows.
