I have no name for it, had it for years, and am so delighted every spring when it blooms. (Thank you, Ej, for the new forum!)

Oh, it's lovely! I think it was you that inspired me to plant a couple of these adorable rose-like primulas. I also can't wait to see them again this spring. Do yours sometimes flower out of season? One of mine started again in November and didn't stop until it was hit by frost in January!

Just gorgeous! I used to grow several of these doubles in my garden in the UK. Unfortunately I don't have many primulas right now...hopefully this forum will encourage me. Thanks EJ! Diane I think your double could be Sue Jervis.

You may be right, Sue. I think you are. This is an older photo of them.
They do multiply nicely and I have given quite a few away. Mine are in the sun, but they perform very well in part shade as well. Mara, mine only bloom once a year, but they hold the bloom for a long time! Wouldn't that be nice if they bloomed more than once! Double delight!

You're not fair to me, Diane...I just spent the last two hours trying to find that Sue of yours !!! lol... I was not so keen on primulas so far, as my previous gardens didn't seem to be adequate for them... For instance, I have lost twice the lovely primula "Dentelle Blanche" (White Lace) Does anyone know it? Oh...may I ask a question, ladies? Does Cowslip read "Cow's lip", or "Cow-Slip" ? I like the latter best, I must say : it makes me imagine a herd of cows slipping lightly one after the other on a sea of primulas, and the ensuing symphony of bells at their necks...what a ballet full of grace it would be !!!!lol...

Another of your lovely poetic visions, Zeph. Try instead to imagine the soft, silky, damp feel of a cow nibbling your ear. Afraid so...

Im sure I read somehwre that the name is a corruption of ''cow's slap'', as it tends to grow on ground on which cow pats have, err, fallen!

That specimen is doing incredibly well - I find the double forms are alot more difficult to grow. But so lovely I keep trying!
