Hi,
Last year I planted 12 P. Japonica in a cool, moist dappled, shady area in which Maidenhair ferns thrive. Every plant bloomed beautifully.
As of April 17 I only see one small whorl of leaves above the soil. Does Japonica come up later than other primula? I made sure the soil was moist during the high summer. Did I lose them or am I impatient? P.S. The maidenhair fiddleheads are just beginning to come up.

Your conditions seem fine for this primula. Don't give up yet!
