A friend gave me this cultivar, ' Beni Nadeshiko'. This is the first year it has flowered well, but has been buried under snow since the photo was taken.
Compare to Adonis amurensis 'Fukujukai', the most commonly sold cultivar here.

Carol, you bring such great plants to us. The photos are wonderful too. Can you educate us more about them?

That's a really beautiful, and unusual, adonis! I admire how well it is growing in your garden. It seems to flower very early, too. Mine are later - if at all: I have difficulty with these.

That is really lovely. I grow the ordinary one with no cultivar name but this is so different and very attractive.

Thank you for the compliments. I asked my friend about 'Beni Nadeshiko'. Like 'Fukujukai', it is sterile, a triploid, so no seeds are produced. These Adonis are successful growing beneath deciduous trees. Companion plantings are Trillium, snowdrops, hellebores, Polygonatum. This Adonis dies back early, unlike Adonis vernalis which can remain green here until autumn frost.

What a beautiful plant. I love the feathery leaves in particular. Great in combination with the euphorbia.

This is new to me...would it be hardy in zone 5, Carol? Even if it were, I wonder if I could find it. It's a shade of yellow I really like.. 'Beni Nadeshiko.'

A stunning (and most desirable) adonis indeed! I love its soft colour. Mara, I have difficulties too : my adonis amurensis are still alive, but did not bloom this spring, neither did they last year... Are our soils too rich, maybe?
