I thought I posted this before; let's try again. Taking a cue from Mara, let's get some hosta pictures going. This is the best time of the year for them in my zone - everything fresh and bright, all the blues still blue, etc.

I didn't understand the name of this new one until it came up this spring. What a great one.

I really like the way this one's marked, Mike. Mine are still unfurling. I saw one the other day that is very striking called 'Whiskey Sour.' That one (among others) may have to come home with me. I'm also fascinated by the minis.

Hi Mike,

Maybe this is appropriate in a thread with 'Korean snow'. A couple of random pics from Hantaek Botanical Garden in Korea (same place where the mass epimediums were photographed).

Mike, can you post a photo when it gets larger?

Oh, Joseph what a wonderful garden to visit. Your head must be swimming with ideas to "transplant" to your TN garden!

What are the little blue flowers and the daisy like flowers peaking out between the hosta?

Great pictures, Joseph, and I do remember the mass epimedium picture. Did you see my newest picture on that thread? Do you know what that caramel-colored one is?

Terry, "bigger" might be relative, but I'll get a picture once it unfurls, then later in the season (if I can remember).

Terry, it was amazing, and I was impressed as my expectations were not particularly high. You would have loved it as there were mass diplays of primula etc. I'm not sure what those flowers are because it was a shot I took passing by on my way to the "good stuff." :-) I assumed the lavender were a kind of phlox. There were lots of colorful areas, but of course I kept to the naturalistic plantings. A few other pics:

Mike I haven't seen the epimedium photo yet. I'll have a look.

Thanks for the link Joseph, wonderful pictures. It looks like those are Primula Sieboldii in some of your photos.

If I ever return to Korea, Hantaek Botanical Garden is where I'm headed. Of course your photos could send me most anywhere.

Like your Hosta, Mike. This is my first time I have posted in the Perennial forum and I hope to come here more often. I have mainly been in "Birds and their Environment".
I do have a selection of Hosta's also and will send some pictures when they are fully 'out'. Hosta's were my 'first love' in the Garden and I still am somewhat addicted to the many different types. However, since a few years ago I have a weakness for special Daylily's. Just as addictive and as expensive.

Welcome, Gerlinde (is this correct?)! Yes, many of my hostas are still in the "spear" stage due to the cold spring we're having in the U.S. midwest. Our lows have been 4C the past few days with not much sun.

Thank you Mike. Forgot to answer your question, yes Gerlinde is fine, it's my name.

Lows 4 and 5 here too, last night up to 10 C. Days are cool and today it was overcast. Suits me fine. I am no good in hot weather in the garden.
I will keep the Hosta posting in mind. Mine are all out but need to fill out yet.
I might slip the odd non-Hosta plant in her too. Hope that's o.k., but think it is since they all are Perennials.
