I have mentioned before the benefits of keeping old bits of healthy roots,in connection with helleborus thibetanus and also podophyllums.

This piece of root was cut of a plant in January 03 and has sat in the pot since then.I have looked at it once a year to see if it has rotted. Here we are 4 years later with a selection of little plants (seven of them.not all can be seen) growing from it.You can see the original rotted crown in the first picture and the new plantlets in both pictures.There has been no sign of growth in previous years.
