The latest issue of the German garden magazine Gartenpraxis contains a five-page article by Matthias introducing H. abruzzicus and H. liguricus to a wider gardening public. The article is beautifully illustrated with photos of both species (and some others) that will definitely go a long way to "selling" both Italians to gardeners. Especially as the article describes not only their natural habitats but also how they can be grown in the garden. The photo of abruzzicus (in Matthias' garden?) is quite irresistible, showing a single plant with dozens of white-ish bells, each dangling below a filigree crown of finely cut leaves. Really beautiful and an absolute garden necessity! No less liguricus: not as delicate but with whiter flowers - or so they appear in the photos. And the promise of a sweet fragrance wafting through the spring garden. Thank you Matthias!

Mara, thank you for your introduction of the article by Matthias. I am really interested in Italian hellebores like H.liguricus and H.abruzzicus as I mentioned in other thread. Is it written in English? If so, I really want to get it.

Here are two of the photos Mara is referring to. The abruzzicus was taken in my garden in June 2005, the liguricus in the wild in Februrary 2006. Helleborus abruzzicus in the garden:

I'm always happy to see these. I'm sure the article was excellent graphically and otherwise given the author. :-)

...and it includes a recommendation of your Web site, Joseph - so you'll probably be seeing increased traffic from Germany.

...and from France, if I can help, Matthias! Look, your H. abruzzicus seems to like its new french home too!
A warm "thank you" again, Matthias!
