It seems so long ago that I saw all the hellebores coming up in England, and finally it's my turn. Snowdrops are still doing nicely and the hellebores are just opening up. Some of these are flowering from Elizabethtown Hellebore Seeds sown a few years back.

How wonderful to see a whole new flock of hellebores coming online to prolong the season! The white with green is possibly my favourite, but they are all beautiful. Please keep the pictures coming!

One of the wonderful things about hellebores is that we can have comments about extending the season in April! I'm happy to see your fresh flowers Terry. Thankfully, climate has not homogenized/globalized and we can experience this wonderful diversity.

How nice and fresh they look! Isn't it nice to see fresh new ones opening again as mine are now all into their "seed stage". I'd love to see more. Mary

So nice to see these, Terry! I have a few Elizabeth Town ones that are similar to the one in your first two hellebore pictures. I also really like the first two pictures of your dark ones. Are they Elizabeth Town too? My dark ones are from a different source! It is funny to hear people talk about 'extending the season' on this forum, as many of you have their hellebores already further progressed. Here in southern Quebec / Ottawa my hellebores are still under at least a meter (3 feet) of snow. We had a total of 4.4 meters of snow this winter and everybody is concerned about all the water that will come as the thawing has started. It will be difficult for all of it to drain quickly enough, and I am worried that my hellebores might start to rot in the soil until all this snow and resulting water will be gone. Unfortunately, but the time my hellebores are going to bloom, most of you will have stopped checking this forum for the season. Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures, Gaby

I doubt it! I wish the hellebore season extended from spring to autumn!

What a lovely selection Terry, they're certainly worth waiting for.....I bet they look lovely with the snowdrops. Most of my hellebore hybrids have gone over now, so I will be popping into this forum for my 'fix', keep posting those photos.

Thanks everyone, I'll continue to update as more come into flower. Gabriele, yes they are from Elizabeth Town hellebore seed. I was in a dark mood my second year ordering so I have a good amount of dark flowered plants.
I would not worry too much, Tim wrote a few years ago that the hellebores growing in the wild can be in flooded areas and they do fine. I think it was Ray who had a small pond in his garden earlier in the year and I believe he too had his hellebores survive. Like Mara said, we'll be popping in when you post, we can't help ourselves!

Thanks all of you for your encouragement! I hope that I will have some pretty flowers to post at one point! Thanks also, Terry, for your comments concerning the flooded areas in which hellebores still survived. That sounds reassuring! Your 'dark mood' has obviously paid off! These are very beautiful flowers,- especially the ones with the rounded sepals! Mary,- we would definitely have water to give away. Ottawa is under a flood warning for this weekend and the week to come. How easy things would be if we could just redistribute by e-mail,- not just water. Looking forward to more pictures from all of you, Gaby
