These photos were taken on 2nd April just outside the village of Kastelani Giru in northern Corfu just before a long lasting torrential rain and hail storm stopped all photography. The third photo shows the road side bank where the Hellebores were growing among a diverse range of plants including Lunaria annua(the purple flower) and Galanthus reginae-olgae.

Melvyn, thank you very much for these photos! It looks as if the carpels are unfused (free) at the base which would qualify them as H. cyclophyllus. But I guess that they vary. A bit further east in the Pindos mountains you find both forms which means that they would best be described as intermediate between odorus and cyclophyllus.
... oh, how I know this !!! ...

Looks like lots of gardenbuddies were visiting hellebore sites this year. Were the seeds ripe enough to bring home a few? Thanks for sharing the photos Melvyn.
