Today, doing nothing in particular except picking up some branches left by flooding, I felt a twitch and then a pain in my right knee. The worst time of all for this, with training a puppy and spring gardening about to begin! DH took me for a drive and we ended up at a nursery and three hellebores followed me home. I don't "need" them, but they do make me feel better!

I think those would make me feel better, too. Hope it works, Marie.

Of course you need them - they're medicine. Especially the anemone-centered.

You mean "medi-seen", Mara, I presume? (and I fully agree!) And "you deserve them!", Marie. I hope the pain is gone by now and everything is allright (I also have a tiny bit of something wandering in my right knee..sometimes it wakes up for no special reason, hurts a few days, then it goes back to sleep for months...) Wonderful plants, anyway! With love Zeph

When does need come into it when buying plants....? It's usually I want so I am having it!

People need sleep, food, water, and to get the food and water out of the body somehow. After that, it's all fair game and a matter of perspective. If someone 'needs' a house or 'needs' a car, they might as well need a hellebore or two or five. :-) I love that first photo Marie. You found some fun plants.

Spring has finally sprung, you definitely needed them Marie and they are lovely. I hope the knee improves quickly.

Thanks folks! This afternoon I planted them outside where yellow foxgloves used to frolic a little too enthusiastically. The tag calls all three of them Double Lenten Roses, "Double Vision". Caution, harmful if eaten! Gee, I was going to add them to our salad tonight...(Just kidding.)

I hope you left some of the yellow foxgloves. Don't you think they would make a nice follow-up to the hellebores?

I didn't leave any...but that's because I have more elsewhere. I may think of something else I'd like to plant there later on.
