Even in cold Québec the hellebores are finally in full bloom and I managed to take pictures to share some of them with you. One of the nicest surprises are the first two Ashwood seedlings from a seed batch from 2005, that started blooming this year,- one a yellow spotted, the other one an apricot.
And here is a selection of Elizabeth Town plants from a seed batch started in 2003:
More to come if you still have patience... Gaby

I am really sorry to hear that. I don't know, but on my computer the images display properly. Your reply seemed to be there though the moment I posted, so I am not sure if it is possible that my posting wasn't completed when you looked?

Some semi-doubles and doubles, also from Elizabeth Town seeds:
And some dark ones that come from a batch of seeds from Gardens North from 2002. I am really pleased with these, but despite the good camera I got for Christmas this year, taking pictures of dark ones remains a challenge. The dark maroon colors look like dark red and the nice slaty blue-grey look reddish as well. Some of these have a very nice bell-shape with longish sepals.
And finally a picture of my H. odorus, that I purchased as a seedling in 2002 and a 'Royal Heritage' hybrid that I purchased as a seedling as well in 2001. It seems to be a weak plant, even after all these years, but the flowers look quite unusual, I find:
I hope you enjoyed this little season extension the way I enjoy my hellebores right now! Happy gardening everybody, Gaby

Wonderful selection of flowers Gaby. I am particularly interested in the Elizabeth Town flowers. I got seed from ET in March and am happily potting up the seedlings at the moment. Lots of them. I sure hope some grow up to be as beautiful as yours.

That must have been it, because they're all there now. What a great collection you have. Even with the impossibility of photographing them properly, the dark reds ones look very beautiful.

Thanks for sharing these Gaby! That's a nice spotted yellow, and I love that first pinkish double. It's reminiscent of a plant they call 'Corrie' as I recall.

Thank you, all of you, for your nice and encouraging comments! I really love my hellebores and this is an exciting time of the year. This year I have close to 50 plants blooming and the color palette is nice and wide. It is also very gratifying to know, that I grew almost all my hellebores up from seeds, which means that I got my little collection for very little money. Another about 30 plants will hopefully start blooming next year, amongst them 17 from Ashwood seeds. While I know that some of you were lucky enough to buy plants from Ashwood, I was wondering if any of you has grown up some from seeds as well? I don't recall anybody commenting on plants grown from Ashwood seeds? Any particular experiences? Gaby

Gaby, I have quite a few plants grown from Ashwood seed. Also, I made a large seed order from them in summer of 2006, so those are just entering their second year. It will be more representative of the range perhaps, as they include most of the categories offered.

Joseph,- these plants will be very interesting to see! I am so tempted to order more Ashwood seeds (though it might be too late this year), but my space is so limited that I have decided against it so far. I would like to keep some room for my own crosses,- not because I think that these plants could be better than Ashwood ones, but for the curiosity to see some applied genetics happening. While I had only ordered 4 kinds of seeds from Ashwood in 2005, one package was their 'Mixed' offering. So I hope to get some good variety with these. Gaby
