This is a very interesting diversion; wire armatures woven with moss and planted with various colourful plants. I imagine some creative folks could make these, but there are companies that sell the armatures. http://www.ehow.com/how_15263_make-living-succulent.html http://www.brucezimmerman.com/ARTICLES/TOPIARIES.htm http://www.rittenhouse.ca/asp/AboutUs.asp?LID=9000182

Rain, I love that lion! Thanks for sharing these. I was just researching on topiaries for past few days and even found a video instructions (second link). http://www.greenpiecewireart.com/index.htm http://www.greenpiecewireart.com/PlantInfo/index.htm I wish I could make the topiary wire frame by myself! The ones available in my area are of dolphins only and I had a legged creature in mind. How hard can it be?!

I've always found these to be so much fun. I marvel at the creativity and later the immaculate upkeep...'haircuts.' However, they would look quite odd in my gardens unless maybe it was in the shape of a golden retriever. ;)

Enjoyed these sites very much,Rain. Lovely pieces. Marlgorzata, you should try one. I have been making and selling them for quite a few years. I use chicken wire for the forms. A bit of wear and tear on the fingers but really worth the effort.

Tammy, any hints how to make the form? I admit, I don't know where to begin. Tanya, I though "Bumble Bee" would fit almost any garden! Ingmarie showed me once a topiary picture of a rooster she saw in one of the Swedish gardens. I can't say that many topiary shapes would fit my garden but that rooster was just awesome! Rain, Tammy, any pictures of your topiaries?

We can get the basic wire frames here too. Emus are very popular!

Starzgarden: I saw your post about directions for making topiaries which was posted about a year ago. I am trying to make a topiary of one of my dogs (Italian Greyhounds). Would you have any suggestions in making these? Thanks.

Hi Patricia: I hope Starzgarden (Tammy) responds. She hasn't been around Gardenbuddies since last Fall. I've e-mailed her but never heard back.

I have missed her too, Denise. Is everything okay with her? She was a favorite here for me and I do miss her. I did e-mail her back when but when I didn't hear from her decided not to bother her further. Please let me know...a private message would be fine.

A little late in responding...but Rain I love the links! Thank you very much! I've always wanted to do this. And maybe have in a small way, but not animals. I hope to try it out this coming year.
