I have three of these on timers dusk till dawn. They have a string of 35 clear Christmas lights inserted. I think they're called single wire so there's no 'add another line' plug or it wouldn't fit in the opening. The two outside my front door sit on ornamental cement pots.
Here's another

Tanya, what a great idea! They must be stunning to view when they are lit up at night. Your gazing balls are a work of art. So unique!

Glad you all liked them. I got the gazing balls at a place called Warmbier's...all GBs would love this place. It's a place out in the boonies, really but not far from MBS, a mid-Michigan airport. They're also available in some of the nicer garden accessory places..no shortage of those places around here...Begick's in Bay City, Batchke's, also Bay City. April and May are the best months to find the most beautiful ones. Right now they are end of season so supply is not as good. It is rather hard to find the kind of lights I mentioned but not impossible. I suggest looking online if you can't find them locally. Bronner's has them ordered so they'll be available online soon if not already. http://bronners.com/

Wow, Tammy. These take gazing balls to a whole new level. I've never seen them lit up like this. Now they're on my "must have" list. I tried to find Begicks and Batchkeys online and I can find them, but no product lists. If you think of it again in April, I hope you'll send us a reminder.

Gloria and Cindy.. the places I mentioned are local. I don't think they do mail order. They are in the $50 price range. I can find out from Warmbier's the name of the company they buy from and you might be able to find that company online. It's too early to phone them just yet but I will try a little later and let you guys know. ;)

I spoke with one of the ladies at Warmbier's and she expressed some hesitancy to reveal their source for the gazing balls but no worries, I found them online. They are some of the nicest people ever so I didn't push it. I would love a red one like #4 and I've seen them...WOW! It would look so neat at Christmas time! #8 is a wow too, just a bit smaller. Gazing Balls If you have nice garden supply places locally besides the big box stores, you could well find these (leftovers now but terrific in the spring!) and do away with shipping.

Those are really beautiful, Tanya. I had a silver gazing ball in the garden. I say had because all of the silver paint wore off so Now I put lights in it for the holidays. It looks cool with the purple ones in it for Halloween.

Tanya, my heart skipped a beat when I saw a display of similar balls at Hobby Lobby today. On closer inspection though I don't think they're the same. The box said Robert Stanley and made in China. Do you know where yours were made? I did see a nice stand that I'm hoping to pick up tomorrow, but will probably order a ball online from the link you gave.

I went back to HL today and bought the stand. I'm going to order one of the balls from Amazon. If it turns out to be the same as the one made in China ... oh well, lol. Tanya, thanks for all your enabling, LOL! Can't wait to see the whole thing lit up on the porch. That reminds me ... I better go buy a string of lights.
