Good luck, Franco. I'm glad you were able to get your cyclamen seed. I have started a few annuals myself, some have germinated already. Hopefully the nice weather won't come as late as last year. What kind of columbine are you trying?

I bought my Sweet Pea seeds a couple of weeks ago and can't wait to plant them. But our ground is frozen solid, so I'll start them in the kitchen window.

I started passion flowers yesterday too. Seeds were probably too old though.

I had got my seeds of passion flower from my local target. They say they take 21 - 34 days to germanate, and it has been about 22 so, hopefully ill see something soon. I also started some clematis that have germinated as well as carnations, convulus, and four 'o clocks. Ooh and i started some nosostrum (sp?) about 2 weeks ago. and they sure do grow ultra fast. I am already getting flower buds, and my tallest one is over 2 feet. their leaves are almost the size of my palm too. I think i should take them away from under the growlights, before they become too gigantic. I wish they would stand upright though, the stems always flop over. I tried staking them but they still tip over. maybe ill tie them. any suggestions ???? Growit: Do you grow your passion flower outside as an annual ???? I have heard you can dig them up come late fall and bring them indoors and they will make it through till next year. I also heard people keep them as houseplants. I have tons of pots filled with them. I bought ten "packlets" of seedlings, and each one had exactly six seeds. So i have some room to experiment.

No not this one Franco. Passiflora caerulea is a perennial for me and virtually evergreen. You would be able to grow it outside in a sheltered position as you are zone 8.

Moira, that is beautiful! I did have two beautiful plants - Calvin Star and another one but I let them die off. They were too big to bring inside. They didn't overwinter. I wasn't sure how I would provide enough light to two huge vines. I am sorry now. These seeds are just plane old maypops. Maybe they will overwinter but I doubt they will germinate. I did get four fast growing cathedral bells to germinate this year and one blue clitoria vine who is not too vigorous - but not dead either.

About those sweetpeas Lovinlife...they can be put into the ground while there's still frost. In fact, sweetpeas do better germinating when having had a cold spell. I could put them in the ground in the Fall and have them come up in the Spring and always, if I am a bit late, I'll chill them first in the fridge.

If you plant it tight against a house wall it will survive. One of the few rampant climbers I would recommend for a house as it does not cling and is cut back each year.

I know what you mean Loretta. I had the same problem with Jasminum polyanthemum(sp?)It grew in my bathroom. Started off next to the toilet, went up a 10/12ft wall, across the ceiling, down the other side, back towards the toilet.Smelt wonderful when it flowered. The kids loved it, thought it was like a jungle in the bathroom. I had to get rid of it as cleaning the bathroom turned into a nightmare!!
Just googled, lovely! Nothing plain about them. Never seen them here for sale.
I do even earlier. I have them growing in a trough at the front of my house. I let a few flowers go to seed, pick them off and stick them back in the trough again. I have had sweetpeas four years running by doing this. Makes life so easy.

My kids would love that too!
Especially when the kids are sons!
I've read some posters complain that it is too aggressive and they were sorry they started them. Franco, do you mean 'Nasturtium'? You could direct sow these. They don't stand upright and are good for baskets. Which one did you plant? The climbing types can get pretty big. I think I will try some old sweet pea seeds today.
