I have an Atlantic Gardens kit skimmer with 2 chambers. Skimmer is in liner. Waterfalls at other end of pond. All is well. However, some small fish and debris are getting caught into the back chamber of the filter where the cal pump is. I am afraid that the pump will affected by this. (We pull the screen in the skimmer out frequently to clean it). I was thinking of putting some type of over the skimmer, but wouldn't this defeat the purpose?? Thanks Barbara

I don't know if this has been solved. My skimmer catches the fish and leaves and keeps them from being chewed up by the pump. That is the purpose of the skimmer. You just have to take your fish out of the netting or basket and put them back into the pond and hope they don't go back in. Sometimes if the waterlevel if right the fish can swim back out. They are attracted to the waterflow and the goodies that come with the waterflow into the skimmer. Yummy food!

My skimmer has two chambers also - the front holds the skimmer net & a foam filter and the back chamber holds the pump. When I clean it out I first remove only the net and hose it off and then reinstall that and take out the foam filter and hose it off. I too had found at the very beginning when I took them both out that things were getting into the back chamber. I hope this helps.
