Hey all, new here so bear with me (please!) My wife and I are greenhouse owner/operators and we have a dilemma. When our customers are finished with their purchases, we struggle with how to provide the best means for the customers to carry their new friends to their vehicle. We scavenged cardboard "cartons" from the grocery stores and the soft drink delivery drivers, now with a premium being offered for recycling credit, our supply has dried up. Plastic "t-shirt" bags don't fill the bill, except for the customer that only buys 2 or 3, 4 paks/6 paks. We are really not in a position to purchase and offer "stock" cboard carry trays....we feel bad not offering anything, and the occasional customer that exits the lot with our plastic carry trays, or worse yet one of our watering trays....we just seem to be stuck. We have been to greenhouses where customers "fend for themselves" and to others that offer the printed customized cboard carry trays "high end and pricey". We are forced to compete with the "marts" and we offer good products, usually for less that our competition. We would very much like to keep it that way and investing in cardboard will most likely force a price increase... Share your thoughts??
thanks

I have used everything from red wagons to baskets. A simple hardware store carry basket should work.

Most of our nurseries here offer cardboard trays for the purchases so as not to dirty the car.
If you are truly lower-priced compared to the competition, I would not worry about it.
Your customers will come prepared and drive away happy. Welcome to Gardenbuddies!

That's so funny M, I carry a plastic liner AND a cardboard carrier. Both from one nursery to use at another. It's always in my car this time of year. And sometimes carried to my car by a red wagon.

So Jerry, use something to move the purchase to the car and your regulars will come prepared.
