I've had this iris for many years and have never known which one it was. I've had several people ask me about it so I'd like to be able to give them a name if possible. Can anyone ID it for me?
I appreciate all your help, thanks.

You can't see the pictures? They come up fine for me. I wonder what could be wrong. Is anyone else having this problem with my pictures?

Thanks, Bill, I'll check those out. Does anyone know of a data base for iris like HMF has for roses?

Need a bit more info. How tall is the iris, does it have purple based foliage, is it early, mid or late flowering? Historic iris are those 30 years or older. The only reliable way to be positive about an ID is to grow the cultivar that one is certain of it's name, right next to it, because local growing conditions will affect it.

Bill, I don't think it could be Confidante, that's too pink. Bay Watch looks close and while searching these two I came across one called Sky Run that looks similar too. I'm still searching. Thanks, Jim. That's a great site but I didn't find anything helpful there. Grannymarsh, I have had these growing in my garden for at least 30 years. They have been divided and shared around with family and friends many times already. The leaves get about 2 feet high, the blooms can go to 3, 3 1/2 feet. The blooms are 6 inches wide and 8 inches tall. There is no purple at the base of the leaves. As you can see by the dates of the photos it blooms mid May. In my photo file I took my first photo May 15th and the last June 2nd this year.

So, we can narrow it down to: Tall Bearded historic no PBF large blooms bloom season is relative to where one lives I guess. My earliest bloomers arrive in May, (SDB's) with the season lasting until early July. And the search is on !!

Thanks for helping, Grannymarsh. I don't recall it ever having much fragrance. Maybe slightly if you stick you nose right down in it but I wouldn't call it fragrant. I came across a few that look similar but if I could find a date anywhere on them mostly they were recent introductions so they can't be it.
